Report a Problem
Hikers who encounter a downed tree or other obstruction on the Appalachian Trail or blue-blazed connecting trails are able to report the problem to GATC.
Whether or not you are carrying a GPS-enabled phone, if you come across a downed tree or other obstruction while hiking the A.T. in Georgia or other connecting trail from Amicalola Falls State Park to the North Carolina state line at Bly Gap, you can let us know. Using a GPS-enabled phone, follow the steps below:
- Be sure to ENABLE LOCATION on the phone.
- Enable the phone’s camera access to GPS LOCATION.
- Make sure the GPS has a good fix on your location. This is best achieved by having your phone out of your pack or pocket, turning on the camera, and waiting a short time before taking any photographs.
- Send images to blowdown@georgia-atclub.org as attachments to an email. If they are inserted or embedded in the body of the email we will not receive an accurate report.
