Women’s Trail Summit
Join Us November 21 – 23 at Amicalola Falls State Park
This event will support, engage, and inspire your adventures on the Appalachian Trail and other public lands and trails, promoting personal safety and awareness and encouraging women to become active participants who are comfortable in the natural environment.
We’ll begin the Summit with a social hour at the Amicalola Falls State Park Lodge on Friday evening. Educational sessions will begin Saturday morning in the Lodge conference center and continue throughout the day, with ample downtime to mix and mingle with your fellow lady hikers. Sunday, we’ll use our morning for longer seminar topics, adjourning before lunch. Add to the adventure by joining us at the Len Foote Hike Inn Thursday night.
You’ll leave the weekend with new skills and awareness, and most importantly, a network of other supportive women who will champion and advocate for your success.
Special Guest Heather “Anish” Anderson
National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, Heather Anderson is the only woman who has completed the Appalachian, Pacific Crest and Continental Divide National Scenic Trails each three times. This includes her historic Calendar Year Triple Crown hike in 2018 when she hiked all three of those trails in one March-November season, making her the first female to do so.
She also holds female self-supported Fastest Known Times (FKT) on the Pacific Crest Trail (2013)–hiking it in 60 days, 17 hours, 12 min and the Appalachian Trail (2015) in a time of 54 days, 7 hours, 48 minutes. She has hiked over 40,000 miles since 2003 including 15 thru-hikes. She is also an avid mountaineer and peakbagger working on several ascent lists in the US and abroad.
As a professional speaker, Heather speaks regularly about her adventures and the lessons learned on trail. She is the author of Thirst: 2600 Miles to Home (2019) chronicling her Pacific Crest Trail record and Mud, Rocks, Blazes: Letting Go on the Appalachian Trail (2021) about her 2015 AT record. Her third book, co-authored with Katie Gerber, is Adventure Ready: A Hiker’s Guide to Planning, Training, and Resiliency (2022).
