Challenge Rules

To play a game or challenge, you know there have to be rules.

• The true summit of all 32 peaks must be reached.
• A Patch Application Form must be completed with dates and descriptions of the hikes and returned as directed on the form.
• No minimum distance is required.
• No minimum time frame is required. The peaks can be completed quickly or over many years.
• Peaks can be reached in any combination.
• No specified routes are required other than the restrictions listed below.
• Two peaks are partially on private land (Alex Mountain and Flint Knob). These must be reached on public lands only and it is the participants’ responsibility to avoid trespassing on private property. Flint Knob can be accessed from Rabun Bald or via Alex Gap. Due to home construction near the top of Alex Mountain in late 2021, it is difficult to reach the peak without crossing private property. Walking on one of the two roads to the top is now allowed. Start on Bayberry Lane from the junction with Knob Drive or Wild Bird Way from the junction with Alex Mountain Drive.
• There is a large parking lot near the summit of Brasstown Bald. Locust Log Ridge and Double Knob may be accessed from this parking lot. Brasstown Bald, Wolfpen Ridge South and Chimneytop Mt. must be reached by ascending from the base of the mountain, typically using the Jacks Knob, Arkaquah or Wagon Train trails.
