**Workshop** Introduction to Rock Work
This workshop will be led by Crew Leader Doug Gallant. Recommended for anyone, regardless of experience, who has not worked with the GATC Rock Crew to learn procedures as specifically practiced by the crew. Learn the basics of rock crew work and safety while working with rocks on the trail. Participants will be introduced to the use of specialized rock work equipment including setup and operation of the rope puller, belay device and the use of snatch rings. Maneuvering rock with rock bars, pick mattocks and rock nets. Splitting rock using an electric drill, carbide hammer sets and feathers and wedges. Shaping rocks using a carbide hammer point, wedges and chisels. This workshop is recommended, though not required, for anyone taking the Rock Step Workshop.
