Third Saturday Work Trip for November

We’ll install a turnpike on Section 9.4, just north of Indian Grave Gap. A turnpike is an 8′ long locust log structure that sits on top of the trail to address pooling water issues. Once the frame is in place, we’ll fill it with large and small crush, and cap it with mineral soil.  You’ll need to bring plenty of water, lunch and personal snacks. Hard hats, long pants, work gloves. sturdy shoes or boots are required. Hard hats and gloves will be available to those in need and all necessary hand tools will be provided. Depending on the number of volunteers who sign up, we may install two more check steps just south of Indian Grave Gap to complete this project. Plan on meeting at the large parking area at Unicoi Gap and carpooling to the worksite. Newcomers and visitors are always welcome!
