National Trails Day Hike & Learn – Vogel State Park to Blood Mountain & Back

Maybe you’ve been to a Lunch & Learn. Well, to celebrate National Trails Day, we’ll do a Hike & Learn! We’ll start at Vogel State Park, hike up to the top of Blood Mountain, then hike back down to the park. Along the way, we’ll talk about some history of Vogel State Park, wilderness preservation, the Appalachian Trail, and whatever else that may come up. It should be a day of adventure and learning.

This hike is about 8 miles round-trip with almost 2,200 feet of elevation gain. While the pace will be a bit leisurely, it will be challenging for anyone who is not fit or unaccustomed to the conditions that will be encountered.

The hike leader is a Certified Interpretive Guide who has volunteered at Olympic National Park and led tours in Yellowstone National Park and at the Plum Orchard Mansion on Cumberland Island National Seashore. He has served two seasons as an interpretive ranger at Shenandoah and Bryce Canyon National Parks, where he has led many informative hikes.
