A.T. Series 2025: Addis Gap to Unicoi Gap
The hike itself starts at Addis Gap after an approximately one mile hike up the closed USFS road. This beautiful hike will take us through Sassafras Gap, Blue Ridge Swag, Young Lick Knob, Wolf Pen Gap and the challenging climb over the second highest point of the A.T. in Georgia, Tray Mountain. We’ll pass through Indian Grave Gap (extra points for whoever finds the Indian’s grave.) An hour after Indian Grave Gap we’ll reach our destination at Unicoi Gap. Total hike distance, including the approach to Addis is somewhere between ten to eleven miles of mostly moderate hiking with a few stretches requiring strenuous effort. We’ll be moving at a comfortable pace with plenty of breaks. This hike requires a semi-lengthy shuttle.
If the condition of the trail caused by rain makes the descent to Unicoi too treacherous, we’ll only go as far as Indian Grave Gap. In that case, the meeting place and time will remain unchanged but will add to the shuttle distance.
