Workshop – Introduction to Rock Work
This workshop will be led by Tom Lamb, Trail Supervisor and Chair of the Rock Crew. Learn the basics or rock crew work and safety while working with rocks on the trail. The GATC Rock Crew is highly regarded and recognized by many other Trail Clubs. Participants will be introduced to the use of specialized rock work equipment including setup and operation of the rope puller, belay device and the use of snatch rings. Maneuvering rock with rock bars, pick mattocks and rock nets. Splitting rock using an electric drill, carbide hammer sets and feathers and wedges. Shaping rocks using a carbide hammer point, wedges and chisels. This workshop is recommended, though not required, for anyone taking the Rock Step Workshop.
