We will start atop Wayah Bald (elevation of 5,342 feet) with awesome autumn views, hike south two miles on the AT, then turn downhill for about five miles on the Bartram Trail to Lake Nantahala.  Several great vistas also reward us on the Bartram as we trek mostly downhill.
