Hiking south from Woody Gap on the AT near Dahlonega, the trail winds and rolls through rocky, ferny, outcrop and boulder-filled forest, and past stunning views. Saturday will be a challenging and rewarding 13.2 miles to the shelter and campsite at Hawk Mountain. Sunday is an easy stroll down to Cooper Gap, 4.3 miles, and a shuttle back to Woody Gap parking.
