Enjoy the 1,800-acre State Park located between Atlanta and Athens. We will hike the relatively flat 7-mile Lake Loop Trail adding an additional mile with the Monster Mile. This trail is moderate, meandering through a lovely hardwood forest. Afterwards we will tour Fort Yargo, constructed in 1792 to help protect the settlers from the Creek and Cherokee Indians who lived in the area at that time.
