Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Benton MacKaye's big idea and the publishing of his article "An Appalachian Trail: A Project in Regional Planning." All 31 trail clubs and the ATC have set aside the weekend of August 7-8, 2021 for the celebration. Find out more here: Learn More.
The Georgia Appalachian Trail Club would like to welcome you to join us on family friendly dayhikes to celebrate the anniversary. The hikes will be guided by our Trail Ambassadors and will be ongoing through out the four-hour period, so come on out, enjoy the scenery and the walk and help celebrate Benton MacKaye's idea of preserving a swath of greenspace along the ridge of these eastern mountains from Georgia to Maine!
The Hikes will be offered from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m on both Saturday, August 7, and Sunday, August 8. Each hike will be about two-miles in length, round-trip. Choose between these hikes or, better yet, do them both!
