Third Saturday Work Trip

District 5 3rd Saturday work trip

We will meet at the Woody Gap parking lot. As most of you may know, this lot fills up fast, carpooling is recommended if possible. We will meet at 8:30 and hike north to Lunsford Gap, just about 3/4 a mile on mostly flat terrain. Our plan is to install 3 turnpikes in addition to the one already there. This involves locust logs and crushed rock. 98% of the material is already at the site, so we will just be hauling in tools.

The turnpikes are designed to provide hikers with a dry-(ish) path during heavy rain storms. About 75 feet of trail in this area floods with every storm. If the turnout is strong, we will go to several braids south of Lunsford and work on them as well.
